Made by Michter's using the traditional sour mash process — a portion of the previous batch's spent mash is carried forward into each new fermentation, building consistency across releases. Named for John Shenk, a Swiss Mennonite farmer who founded a distillery on this Pennsylvania site in 1753.

Not a bourbon. Shenk's is a blend of Michter's bourbon and rye distillate, finished in toasted-only French oak from the Vosges forest — barrels that were never charred, a Cognac-world barrel technique that drives the chocolate, toffee, and stone fruit character.
