Silver Oak has made Cabernet Sauvignon its only wine since 1972, and American oak its only barrel. The result is a house style that reads differently than most Sonoma Cabs: more generous and approachable out of the gate, with vanilla richness from the oak giving way to darker fruit as the wine opens up.
The 2019 blend (95.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 1.9% Merlot, 0.4% Petit Verdot) was harvested before the late-October wildfires, giving clean aromatics and classic structure. Decanter scored it 95 points; James Suckling gave it 94, citing boysenberry, rose petals, and a long finish of garrigue and crushed slatestone. The producer says it will drink through 2047.
