Stagg is Buffalo Trace's barrel-proof release — no water added, no chill filtration, nothing between the barrel and the bottle. Batch 25B came out in fall 2025 at 126.9 proof. The name changed from Stagg Jr. to Stagg starting with Batch 18 in 2022; the bourbon hasn't changed. Non-age-stated but broadly estimated around 8–9 years based on batch analysis.
25B runs toward the classic Stagg profile — heavier on molasses, charred oak, cocoa, and leather than the fruit-forward batches. Black cherry and dark berries appear on the finish, which is long and dry. At 126.9 proof the heat is real; a few drops of water open things up quickly.
