This is the flagship Yamazaki 12 in its limited 100th anniversary dress — Suntory's centenary label draws the distillery in deep copper tones, and the whisky inside is the same 12-year single malt. What you're buying is the classic, dressed for the occasion.

Shinjiro Torii built Yamazaki in 1923 as Japan's first malt whisky distillery, where three rivers meet in a misty valley outside Kyoto; Suntory introduced Yamazaki single malt in 1984. Components aged in American, Spanish and Japanese Mizunara oak carry peach, pineapple and candied orange over coconut and butter, finishing long on sweet ginger and cinnamon.
