Talisker has stood at the edge of Loch Harport on the Isle of Skye since 1830 — the only distillery on Skye and one of the oldest island distilleries in Scotland. The 2022 Special Release, named “The Lustrous Creature of the Depths,” returns to lightly peated, bourbon-driven Talisker character: closer to the classic 10 Year Old than the more heavily manipulated releases of prior years. First-fill ex-bourbon casks. Natural color. Non-chill filtered.

Reviewers called it the standout of the 2022 collection. Whisky Advocate awarded 91 points — “the palate is rich and full-bodied with lemon, caramel, vanilla, tangerine peel, and peat smoke” (Jonny McCormick, Winter 2022). WhiskyNotes gave it 89, describing it as “simply an excellent Talisker showing off its natural beauty, without too much make-up.” Both reviewers recommend a few drops of water to open the sweet fruitiness and salt character.
