Tenuta Hans Rottensteiner Pinot Grigio 2023 750ml
ITALY : ALTO ADIGE : BOLZANO
CONVENTIONAL : Pinot Grigio
MED-BODIED, RIPE PEAR, WHITE FLOWER, WET GRAVEL, CITRUS, NO OAK
Rottensteiner's Pinot Grigio grows in Branzollo and Frangarto, two villages south of Bolzano on volcanic porphyry soils — the red stone that gives the family its name and the wines their distinctive mineral edge. Vines at 250–300 meters see dramatic day-night temperature swings that hold acidity and build aromatic precision.
Founded in 1956 and now in its third generation, the estate works with 50 local growers alongside 10 hectares of family vineyards. This is a house that built its reputation on Alto Adige's native varieties before the whites started turning heads. Wine Enthusiast 87 pts (2021).
PAIRINGS :
| Grilled branzino with lemon and capers | saline minerality mirrors the sea; citrus notes echo the lemon; acidity cuts through the fat |
| Spaghetti alle vongole | the wine's mineral edge and crisp finish keep pace with the brine |
| Burrata with heirloom tomato | creamy burrata calls for the wine's acidity; stone fruit aromatics complement the sweet tomato |
