Le Difese is Tenuta San Guido's entry point to the estate that invented the Super Tuscan — Bolgheri's Sassicaia property, using younger-vine fruit and lots from the Guidalberto program, aged eight months in Guidalberto's previously used French oak. The wild boar tusks depicted in gold on the label give the wine its name: the estate's welcome to visitors from around the world.
The 2023 shifted slightly toward Cabernet Sauvignon (35%, up from the typical 30%) after peronospora reduced the Sangiovese harvest — resulting in a firmer, more structured expression than recent vintages. Wine Enthusiast rated it 93 points.
