Glenrothes has distilled beside the Burn of Rothes, in Speyside, since 1879 — soft spring water from four private sources on its estate, unusually tall stills run at roughly half the speed of its neighbours, and sherry-seasoned oak casks made to the distillery's own specification. The result is a fruit-led spirit that, by the distillery's own account, turns more refined and fragrant after about fifteen years in wood.

The 25 gives it a quarter century, in a high proportion of first-fill sherry-seasoned casks, bottled at 43% with natural colour. That spec holds whether the bottle wears the earlier Soleo Collection label or the newer "The 25" packaging. Expect ripe fruit and caramel up front, citrus peel through the middle, and a long finish of sherried oak.
