Rare Cask is built from the casks The Macallan's whisky makers flag as outliers in the warehouse — the ones showing an intense sweet raisin note and a rich, velvety texture — and it carries 100% natural colour, a deep ruby mahogany. The 2022 release was made in collaboration with Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti and came out in limited quantities.

Soft vanilla and raisin on the nose, then fresh apple, lemon and orange. The palate opens on sweet raisin before vanilla and dark chocolate take over, with light citrus zest underneath. Long, velvety finish. Pour it neat, and give it a few minutes in the glass.
