Domaine de Triennes occupies 40 hectares of clay-limestone slopes in the Var hills east of Marseille, founded in 1989 by Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac — two pillars of Burgundy who came to Provence not to replicate what they knew but to find what the region does on its own terms. Organic since the beginning, certified EcoCert in 2014; once Seysses' barrels have given everything they have to Dujac's Morey-Saint-Denis Pinot Noir, they cycle here — which is why the oak on this wine is structural without being obvious.
The 2020 vintage opened with a hard late-March frost that cut yields across the Var. What followed was a hot, dry summer and the cold nights that preserve the acidity in these elevated plots. Less wine, better balance — what you're buying is a structured, food-ready Provence red with genuine organic credentials and a production story few bottles at this price can match.
PAIRINGS :
| Garlic-herb roasted lamb | Syrah's dark fruit and earth track lamb's richness; structure holds against the fat |
| Duck confit | Cabernet Sauvignon backbone gives enough grip to anchor duck's gamey depth |
| Mushroom and lentil ragù | earthy and umami-forward — mirrors the leather and earth notes without needing meat |
