Soft Texture, Clean Finish

I first heard about Velleminfroy Water from a winemaker in Burgundy. He wasn’t talking about wine. He was talking about how, after long tastings, the only thing that reset his palate was this water. “It tastes clean. Like the mountains,” he told me. He was right.

This water comes from a natural spring in the heart of the southern Vosges catchment basin, near the Jura mountains in eastern France. The area’s totally protected—no industrial sites, no farms—so the water stays pure and full of natural minerals. It has calcium, magnesium, among others, but it doesn’t taste heavy or metallic.

It’s the texture that really gets you. It’s smooth. Some waters are flat and kind of boring—this one has weight without feeling thick. It finishes clean, almost crisp, with a soft mouthfeel that works well with food or just on its own.

We’re a wine store, but after trying this, it felt like the right fit. The care they take bottling this is on par with good winemaking. Honestly, it’s probably the best still water I’ve had—and I didn’t expect to care that much about water.

If you want something simple, clean, and better than what’s coming out of the tap, this is it. Nothing added. Nothing filtered out. Just how it comes out of the ground in one of the most beautiful parts of France.
