In 1818, Madame Clicquot blended still red wine from Bouzy into her white wine and made what is generally recognized as the first rosé d'assemblage Champagne. Nearly every rosé Champagne made since works the same way.

This is the direct descendant, and the ninth edition of the cuvée: 90% Pinot Noir drawn from eight of the house's historical crus, with 13% still red wine from a single named parcel, the Clos Colin in Bouzy. Dosage is 8 g/L.

Salmon pink with a coppery cast. Floral on the nose at first, turning warmer and more spiced, then a sharp attack that settles into something silky and long. Wine Enthusiast 95 pts, Cellar Selection.
