LIGHT-BODIED, PEAR, QUINCE, SPICE, WET STONE, NO OAK
The estate's basic wine, named for both the founder and his first-born son — the Hermann Ludes who runs the place today with his nephew Julian, and the largest single owner in the Thörnicher Ritsch. Fruit comes mostly from steep-slope Thörnich vineyards, plus parcels in Klüsserath that include half a hectare of the Bruderschaft.
Most years it finishes just off-dry. 2024 landed legally dry — 9 g/L of residual sugar against 9.5 g/L of acidity, at 10% alcohol. Pear, quince and spice over a stony core, with a rustic, spritzy energy. Built for lunch.
