William Larue Weller is the wheated bourbon in Buffalo Trace's annual Antique Collection, and the 2024 release comes from barrels filled at 114 proof in January 2010 and February 2012, then aged on the lower floors of a rick warehouse. After twelve years and six months, 61% of the original whiskey had gone to evaporation. What was left went into the bottle uncut and unfiltered at 125.8 proof.

Buffalo Trace's notes lead with new leather, pipe tobacco and caramel over marshmallow, then caramel and toffee into a long oak finish. Breaking Bourbon found more fruit — cherry cobbler on the nose, black cherry and dark raspberry on the palate — and a pour that drinks hotter than its proof without losing its balance.
