The 2022 Batch Proof pulls from first-floor barrels in Woodford's heat-cycled warehouses — a deliberate selection that left more moisture in the wood and drove the final proof down to 118.4. Lower than prior years, and it shows: this vintage runs fruitier than the series average, with dark cherry and elderberry leading the nose ahead of café latte and hazelnut, then orange peel and allspice pulling through on the finish. The same 72/18/10 mash, the same triple copper pot still distillation, the same six-day fermentation as the standard Woodford — the variance is entirely the barrel selection, and Brown-Forman's team picked right. Whisky Advocate scored it 91 points; Paste Magazine called it a fruit bomb worth seeking out. Both are correct.
