Valençay is 74 hectares total — Loire's smallest and least-known AOC — and Sophie Siadou farms 28 of them on gunpowder-flint soils in the commune of Lye. Fermented with native yeasts, aged 18 months in neutral barrels: the Gamay brings fruit, the Pinot Noir the elegance, the Côt the structure. John Gilman gave the 2019 91 points and a window of '2021–2040.'
