Julien Courtois and his partner have Heidi Kuka have worked tirelessly to restore a neglected 4.5 hectare estate of 40 year old vines in Sologne, where they recognized the land’s potential despite the condition of its long-damaged soils. Courtois has since succeeded in producing a slew compelling, terroir-driven natural wines from this small but mighty estate; the elegant and concentrated ‘Ancestral’ is a fine example of his best work. Give it ~30 mins to open & reveal its magic.

Brothers Damon and Juno Koerner are a terroir-minded duo who seek out the distinct sense of place in their wines by harvesting fruit early and practicing minimal intervention in the winery. This particular bottling is an outstanding and unique expression of Clare Valley Riesling — zippy and dry, it is dominated by bright citrus fruit and crisp acidity, with some added texture & spice from skin contact and 8 months of lees-ageing. Fermentation occurs in a combination of stainless steel and ceramic amphora for two months. Unfined/unfiltered.

Light and fresh, with perfumed aromas and distinct herbaceous and spicy notes — this unique red from the esteemed Clare Valley appellation in Southern Australia is made from the Corsican varietal Sciaccarello (Shak-ar-ellom, or “Mammolo” as it is known in Tuscany), indicative of a wider trend in Aussie winemaking for the production of elegant, light-bodied reds using traditionally Mediterranean varietals (which have done well in the face of an increasingly warm climate). Aged in a Slovenian oak 2000L foudre for 6 mos & racked to steel for 3 mos. Unfined/unfiltered.
